"Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself" (Dan.1:18)

What is the highest ambition of your life? You know how the man of the world would answer such a question, but how about you, dear young Christian? I believe that the highest ambition of every Christian is to be like Jesus our Lord!

So let us "purpose in our heart" and God will give the enabling power. To become men and women after His heart we must let him have our undivided attention. To win we must surrender, to live we must die. And, oh, the sweetness of such a life — the joy of His fellowship! There is nothing like it on earth. All the success in the world will not compensate for it. Money brings its burdens, and fame its bitterness. Even loved ones disappoint, but he is never a disappointment — he satisfies.

Jesus, thou art enough The mind and heart to fill;

This is part of a hymn written by a young man who came to the realization that "a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth" (Lk. 12:15).
